Intech Packaged Boiler- Compact, Efficient & Ready-to-use Steam Solution for Process Industries

Intech steam boiler for construction industry, designed for efficient and reliable steam generation.

Packaged Boiler - Intech

Intech is a high-performance packaged boiler, specifically engineered to meet the steam generation needs of various process industries. As a smoke tube packaged boiler, it combines compact design, high efficiency, and ease of operation—making it an ideal choice for industries requiring a reliable and safe source of continuous supply of dry saturated steam. With steam generation capacities of up to 6000 kg/hr. The Intech range is versatile and designed for solid fuel firing applications coal, wood, or briquettes, especially where manual fuel handling is preferred.

The Packaged Boiler is offered in three options: Intech dry back, Intech wet back, and Intech wet-back tube. Being a fully assembled packaged steam boiler it ensures quick installation, reduced site work, and minimal maintenance, offering a plug-and-play solution for industries with limited space and time constraints. The fuel combustion takes place in the internal furnace on the grate and flue gases are released. The flue gases then travel from the furnace to the flue gas outlet through the smoke tubes, reversing from smoke boxes on their way out. Flue gases traveling at optimum speed ensures maximum radiation and convective heat transfer

Intech packaged boilers are ideal for a wide range of industries including textiles, food processing, chemicals, plywood manufacturing, rice mills, and other sectors that demand efficient, cost-effective, and continuous steam supply for their operations.

Packaged boiler related FAQs:

A Packaged Steam Boiler is a factory-assembled unit that includes the boiler, burner, and controls—ready for quick installation. It generates dry saturated steam and is ideal for industries needing continuous steam. With a compact smoke tube design, it runs on solid fuels like coal, wood, or briquettes and offers high efficiency, easy installation, and low maintenance.

Packaged steam boilers offer quick installation, compact design, and high efficiency. They require less space, need minimal maintenance, and are cost-effective for continuous steam generation—ideal for various process industries.

The Intech range of Packaged boilers are mainly available in following variants:

  • Dry Back
  • Wet Back
  • Wet Tube Back

These are three types of smoke tube packaged boilers, differentiated by the design of the rear-end combustion chamber, which affects heat transfer efficiency and maintenance.

  • Dry Back Boiler:
In this type, the rear portion is covered with refractory bricks, and is not water-cooled. While it has a simpler construction and lower initial cost, it results in higher heat loss and requires frequent refractory maintenance.
  • Fully Wet Back Boiler:
In this type, the entire rear surface is completely surrounded by water, allowing maximum heat transfer and reduced refractory wear. It ensures higher thermal efficiency, better fuel economy, and longer operational life with minimal maintenance.
  • Wet Tube Back Boiler:
This design has a mini water-wall at the rear end or the reversal chamber, exactly behind the furnace. This waterwall enables  water cooling at the rear end, where some flue gases are surrounded by water while the rest contact refractory. It offers a balance between efficiency and maintenance, making it suitable for moderate steam demands.

A Smoke Tube Boiler is a boiler where hot flue gases pass through tubes surrounded by water to generate steam. It is simple, efficient, and ideal for low to medium pressure industrial applications.

Smoke Tube Boiler working involves the flow of hot flue gases through a series of smoke tubes, which are submerged in water. As these gases pass through the tubes, heat is transferred to the surrounding water, converting it into dry saturated steam. This simple and efficient design is widely used in industries for reliable steam generation at low to medium pressure.

The Difference between Smoke Tube and Water Tube Boiler lies in the flow of gases and water:

  • In a Smoke Tube Boiler, hot gases pass through tubes surrounded by water. It is suitable for low to medium pressure applications and is easy to operate and maintain.
  • In a Water Tube Boiler, water flows through tubes and hot gases surround them. It is designed for high-pressure operations and offers higher efficiency and steam generation capacity.

Both types serve different industrial needs based on steam demand, pressure, and fuel type.

To ensure safe and efficient operation, regular maintenance of a packaged steam boiler is essential. Key tasks include:

  • Leak Inspection: Regularly check for any water or steam leaks, as they can lead to energy loss, equipment damage, and safety hazards.
  • Boiler Cleaning: Periodic cleaning helps remove soot, scale, and debris, improving heat transfer and overall efficiency.
  • Water Level Monitoring: Maintain the correct water level at all times to prevent dry firing or system failure.
  • Safety Device Testing: Routinely test all safety valves, pressure controls, and interlocks to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
